ACSEA & QCPCA OBTAINS LEGALSATIVE CHANGES

As you have previously been advised, both the QCPCA and the ACSEA met with Queensland Ministerial advisors at the beginning of the year to see if there was consideration about protecting the Parents and Citizens Associations from the federal Governments Modern Award Process.  If implemented this would have seen significant changes to the way in which all employing Parents and Citizens Associations across Queensland operate.

We can today advise that the combined efforts of both ACSEA and the QCPCA have effected legislative changes protecting all P&C's who employ staff.

Over a fortnight ago ACSEA held lengthy discussions with representatives of both the Department of Education and the Premiers advisors in a further attempt to advocate on behalf of P&C's in Queensland.  The effective lobbying from both the ACSEA and the QCPCA has brought about legislative changes from both the Federal Government and the Queensland State Government to now protect Parents and Citizens Associations as employers.  This includes all P&C OSHC operations as well.

The Department of Education / Queensland Government has advised the ACSEA on the 5th November 2009 that the P&C Award will be preserved as a Qld award and will not be transferred into a Modern Award consequently there is no need to action anything.

Those P&C's who have sent the ACSEA cheques will have them returned and the ACSEA will not be proceeding with a new Certified Agreement.  All Appointment of Agents forms will be destroyed.

This news highlights a great year for both the ACSEA and its members, proving once again that membership with the ACSEA represents great value for money.

Please contact the ACSEA on 3852 5177 if we can be of any further assistance.
