School wide Positive Behaviour Support Conference
A professional development opportunity for early childhood education and care staff on Positive Behaviour Support.
Positive Behaviour Support is an evidence based framework supporting educators in creating supportive learning environments for all children, including children with challenging behaviours.
The Sustaining Communities of Practice: Schoolwide Positive Behaviour Support Conference is being organised by the Department in Cairns on 18-20 July 2011. The inclusion of an early years strand in the conference will provide early childhood education and care staff with an introduction to Positive Behaviour Support and strategies for implementation in early childhood education and care services, both at the service and group level.
It would be appreciated if you could distribute information about this conference so that interested early childhood education and care staff are aware of this professional development opportunity.
Please find attached a flyer outlining the conference program, and registration processes. Also attached is an introduction sheet to Positive Behaviour Support in early childhood education and care, by Dr Laura Riffel, one of the conference presenters.
For more information about the conference and the application of Positive Behaviour Support in early child education settings, please contact Mr Warren Dawson, Principal Adviser Education Queensland on telephone 07 3237 0061 and or by email: warren.dawson@deta.qld.gov.au
